European Affairs Update July 2026

Every three months we publish a briefing on relevant European developments in the field of cultural heritage. The European Affairs Update brings you up to speed with the latest news, funding opportunities, events and other updates. It is a joint initiative of the European Archaeological Council and the European Association of Archaeologists. Please feel free to share it among your networks.

In this edition, find news of the ‘Europe for Culture, Culture for Europe’ joint declaration, signed in June by the Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Presidents of the European Parliament and the European Commission. It is the first shared strategic commitment of its kind at the highest institutional level to place culture at the heart of the European project.
